18 holes and 18 golf clubs in one day challenge for local charities

Lambert ChapmanIn September, UK200Group Member Firm Lambert Chapman Accountants have set themselves the ultimate challenge to help raise money for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) and Farleigh Hospice.

On 17 September, Nick Forsyth, Managing Partner at Lambert Chapman LLP, will be playing 18 holes of golf over 18 Essex and Hertfordshire courses, one hole at each course, in one day. They have partnered up with Essex law firm Birkett Long to complete this challenge and Nick will be joined by Tracey Dickens, Partner and Head of Commercial Corporate and Finance.

Starting in Frinton at 6.30am, they will go one by one, playing one hole at each golf club until they end up in Saffron Walden, hopefully before sunset.

The Golf Clubs taking part in helping with this mammoth challenge are: Frinton, Clacton, Colchester, Play Golf, The Essex, Colne Valley, Braintree, Benton Hall, Maldon, The Warren, Bentley, Abridge, Theydon Bois, The Hertfordshire, Hanbury Manor, East Herts, Bishop Stortford and Saffron Walden.

Nick said: “The charity sector has been hit hard during lockdown but, for many, their cost-base hasn’t changed. Lambert Chapman were supporting Essex & Herts Air Ambulance as their charity of the year to 30 June, but we felt we hadn’t done enough to help them. This challenge provided a fundraising opportunity, knowing that we could team up with Birkett Long who are also supporting EHAAT.

“Playing 18 different clubs in Essex & Hertfordshire over one day seemed a unique way to get a wider outreach of support for our fundraising and we hope that this comes to fruition.”

Tracey said: “Credit has to go to Nick at Lambert Chapman for coming up with such a brilliant idea for a challenge. He has also created an excellent golf card to create a par 72 golf course from 18 different Essex and Hertfordshire golf courses. Thanks, must go to the courses and their members that have so kindly agreed to allow us to come and interrupt their day to play one of the holes on their course.

“While golf always presents a challenge for me, it is an exciting prospect to visit so many different courses across the two counties for such a great cause. We have 11 hours of daylight to fit in the round, on arguably the longest golf course, with approximately 150 miles of travel in between! We can only hope the traffic is kind, that the weather is fair, and the golfing gods are with us. We welcome everyone’s support in helping us raise money for Farleigh Hospice & EHAAT and look forward to assisting the Air Ambulance to fly in the coming months.”
